Ubaguzi Wa CCM Na Serikali Yake Katika Maendeleo

ENGLISH VERSION

The CCM government has been discriminating against its citizens in development. For this phase, we have witnessed the Maasai people of Loliondo and Ngorongoro being discriminated against by the Government giving priority to foreign investors at their development expense. The government has robbed the Maasai of their land, which is an important resource for development, as apart from land providing them with shelter, land is used to practice livestock, farming which is their main economic activity. This is no different for the farmers as well as they too have experienced the consequences of having their land confiscated.

The land of herders and farmers being looted and given to investors has contributed to the unending series of conflicts between herders and farmers fighting for the remaining areas to undertake their economic activities. For a while now, the government has failed to create jobs for the people, but today the members of parliament who do not pay taxes are suggesting a bill asking for a law to be made to ensure that the wives or husbands of the country's top leaders be paid even after their partners leave their positions of power or pass away. This has surprised many as there are still Tanzanians who are struggling due to lack of basic social services such as water, electricity and health services. The situation is worse when it comes to the poor health services which has in turn led to increased maternal and child deaths during childbirth. During the period of the late retired president John Magufuli, our country witnessed regional discrimination during his leadership.as his leadership gave priority to giving away top leadership positions to people from the lake regions, something that is not right especially in a democratic country.

With all the discrimination going on by the government against its very own people, it has shown that the government's priority is not to develop and improve the lives of its citizens but the lives of those in power. All of this stems from the existing system and in order for changes to be made we have to get rid of the system. This is only possible through a new constitution that will restructure the system and put in place mechanisms for accountability. Thus, as citizens, we have to show up in large numbers in the movement to bring about change, including the ongoing protests in the country aiming at demanding for change.
