Baada ya wananchi kutangaza maandamano ya kuishinikiza serikali kuzingatia maoni ya wananchi kwenye Muswada wa Sheria ya Uchaguzi wa Rais, wabunge na madiwani wa mwaka 2023, Muswada wa Sheria ya Tume ya Taifa ya Uchaguzi wa mwaka 2023, na Muswada wa Marekebisho ya Sheria za Vyama vya Siasa wa 2023. Pamoja na CHADEMA kutangaza tarehe 24 Januari 2024 kuwa siku ya maandamano ya amani, Mkuu wa Mkoa wa Dar-es-Salaam Mheshimiwa Albert Chalamila amesikika akisema kuwa wanajeshi wapatao 500 watafanya usafi siku hiyohiyo. Hali hii imeonyesha ni kwa jinsi gani serikali imepaniki kwa kutaka kutishia wananchi wasishiriki maandamano hayo. Hii ni kwa sababu wanaogopa nguvu ya umma ya maandamano kwa kuwa watanzania wamechoshwa na sera na mienendo ya serikali ya sasa. Nchi nyingi zimepata mabadiliko kupitia maandamano kwa sababu viongozi hawapo tayari kuachia madaraka.

Watu wengi wameumizwa na madhira ya serikali nchini. Unyanyasaji, dhulma na ubabe umetumika kuumiza wananchi. Hatuwezi kuwa na mabadiliko ya sheria yatakayoleta maendeleo chanya bila mabadiliko ya Katiba.  Katiba bora itatusaidia kuwa na utawala bora na utawala wa sheria ambao utazaa uongozi wenye ubunifu wa kuleta maendeleo. Kila mtanzania anatakiwa kuunga mkono maandamano ya amani bila kujali vyama, dini au ukabila ili kutoa mfumo unaowanufaisha wachache. Wananchi pia wanatakiwa kuwa tayari kwa lolote ikiwemo kukamatwa na polisi.

After the citizens announced a demonstration to pressure the government to consider the views of the citizens on the Bill for the National Electoral Commission,  the President, Parliamentarians and Councilors Bill and the Political Parties Affairs Bill of 2023. With CHADEMA declaring January 24, 2024 as a day of peaceful protest, the Dar-es-SalaamRegional Commissioner Mr. Albert Chalamila has also been heard saying that about 500 soldiers will undertake a cleaning operation on the same day. This situation has shown a state of panic by the government in attempting to threaten the people from participating in the protest by instilling fear. This is because the government is well aware of the power that protests hold in acting as a catalyst for change and is well aware that Tanzanians are fed up with its policies and actions and that change is what is being demanded. Many countries have achieved change through protests because leaders are not ready to relinquish power. 

In Tanzania many people have been hurt by the actions of the government. Harassment, tyranny have been used to hurt the people. We cannot have changes in the law that will bring positive progress without changes in the constitution. A good constitution will help us arrive at good governance and the rule of law that will give birth to creative and innovative leadership crucial for the country’s development. Every Tanzanian is called upon to take part in every way possible and support the peaceful protests regardless of one’s political party, religion or ethnicity inorder for to do away with a governing system that benefits the few. Citizens should also be ready for anything, including arrest.
