Mkataba wa bandari baina ya Tanzania na DP World umepingwa na watanzania wengi kwa kuwa ni mkataba wa kinyonyaji usio na muelekeo wa kuinufaisha Taifa. Mkataba huu umepingwa na wananchi wengi na Serikali imekua ikitooa vitisho kwa wananchi wanaoongea na kutoa maoni yao juu ya mkataba huu wa bandari. Vitisho vya dola vilionekana kwa baadhi ya wananchi akiwemo Tundu Lissu na wakili Dkt.Nshala kwa kuzungumzia swala hili. Hivi karibuni Dkt. Silaa ambaye alikuwa balozi wa Tanzania Sweden pamoja na mwanaharakati wa upinzani Mpaluka Nyagali pamoja na wakili Boniface Mwabukusi wamekamatwa wakishutumiwa kwa uchochezi na kupanga kuandaa maandamano ya nchi nzima yanayolenga kuipindua serikali. Jambo hili limeonekana si la kweli kwani inaonekana wazi kuwa wamekamatwa kwa ukosoaji wao juu ya mkataba wa bandari uliotiwa saini kati ya serikali ya Tanzania na kampuni ya DP World. 

Swala hili limeonyesha ni kwa jinsi gani nchi haithamini maoni ya wananchi wanaotoa maoni tofauti na matakwa ya serikali. Serikali imekusudia kuteka ridhaa ya watu ili wananchi wasiwakosoe hivyo inaingiza uwoga kwa wananchi ili wasitoe mawazo mbadala na maamuzi ya serikali na kat6ika kufanya hivi inaendelea kutumia vyombo vya dola kunyamazisha umma kwenye kuhoji, kudadisi na kujali nchi yao. Hili jambo si sawa kwani watanzania watakaposhindwa kupata mahali pakupata haki wanaweza kuamua kujichukulia sheria mikononi na kupelekea nchi kuingia kwenye machafuko. Nchi haiwezi kujengwa kwa kusikiliza hoja ya upande mmoja tuu ni haki ya msingi ya wananchi kutoa maoni yao juu ya mwenendo wa serikali yao kwani mamlaka ya kweli hutoka kwa wananchi. Hivyo, wananchi wanahitaji kushikilia tumaini lao na kuendelea kupigania haki yao katika nchi na katika kpata #KatibaMpya kwani  vitisho vya dola havitafanikiwa sababu hakuna serikali iliyowahi kushindana na wananchi ikashinda.

The port agreement between Tanzania and DP World has been opposed by many Tanzanians because it is an exploitative agreement that does not aim to benefit the nation. This agreement has been opposed by many citizens and the Government has been issuing threats to citizens who speak out and give their opinion on the port contract with DP World. We have witnessed the power of the state being used to threaten citizens including Tundu Lissu and former Tanganyika Law Society President, Dr. Nshala for publicly airing their opinions on the issue. Recently Dr. Silaa, who is a former Tanzanian ambassador to Sweden, along with opposition activist Mpaluka Nyagali and lawyer Boniface Mwabukusi have been arrested accused of inciting and planning to organize nationwide demonstrations aimed at overthrowing the current government. This has been found to be untrue as it is clear that they have been arrested for their criticism on the DP World port contract agreement signed between the Tanzanian government and DP World.

Threats to people who give out their opinion only shows that the country does not appreciate the opinions of citizens whose views are different from those of the government. The government has intended to forcefully win the consent of the people so that there are no people who criticize the government, hence it instills fear among the people so that they do not give alternative ideas concerning the decisions of the government. 

 In order to do this, it continues to use government instruments to silence the public from questioning, inquiring and caring about matters of their country. This is not right because when Tanzanians fail to find a place to get justice, they may decide to take the law into their own hands which in turn might lead the country into chaos. A country cannot be built by listening and agreeing to the decisions of the government only, it is the basic right of the people to express their opinion on the conduct of their government because the real power comes from the people. Thus, the people need to hold on to their hope and continue to fight for their rights in the country and in attaining a new constitution because the threats aired out by government apparatus will not succeed because no government has ever competed with the people and won.
