Serikali imekua ikipinga vikali jitihada za vyama vya upinzani na taasisi mbalimbali katika harakati za kupambania katiba mpya. Hii imeonekana kwa kutokufanyika kwa kongamano la kujadili hitaji la Katiba Mpya pamoja na Mkataba wa Bandari ambalo lilipaswa kufanyika Mwanza Oktoba 4, 2023. Kongamano hilo lililoandaliwa kwa pamoja na Jukwaa la Katiba Tanzania, Jukwaa la Uwazi Tanzania (TRAFO), na Sauti ya Watanzania. Serikali imeenda mbali kwa kutumia vitisho hata kwa watoa huduma wanaoshirikiana na waendesha harakati ili kukwamisha harakati hizi. Serikali pia imekosoa wanaharakati wanaotumia mitandao ya jamii kuwa wanapoteza muda lakini ni kupitia mitandao ya jamii tumeshuhudia mabadiliko yakitokea. Hatuwezi kuwa na uongozi ambao unasaini mkataba usiokuwa na kikomo na usionyesha mwekezaji amewekeza kiasi gani. 

Wananchi watanzania wanahitaji kuchukua hatua pale ambapo serikali inakosea ili kuondoa dhana ya kwamba serikali huwa haikosei na kwamba ikikosea hakuna kitu tunaweza kufanya. Watanzania wameamka kudai katiba lakini vuguvugu hili bado halitoshi. Tunahitaji makundi mbalimbali ya wanaharakati yatakayoungana kulipigania taifa. Ukombozi kamili utapatikana kupitia katiba mpya itakayotengeneza mifumo huru na ya haki. Serikali ipo madarakani kwa nguvu waliyopewa na wananchi, hivyo kama wananchi ni juu yetu kuchukua maamuzi sahihi kuhoji na kudai uwajibikaji pale Serikali inapokosea.

The government has strongly opposed the efforts of opposition parties and various institutions in the struggle for a new constitution. This has been seen by blocking the forum that was to discuss the need for a new Constitution and the Port Agreement with DP World which was supposed to be held in Mwanza on October 4, 2023. The conference was jointly organized by the Tanzania Constitution Forum, the Tanzania Transparency Forum (TRAFO), and the Voice of Tanzania. The government has gone so far as to use threats even to service providers who cooperate with the activists in order to stop these free movements. The government has also criticized activists who use social networks as wasting time, but it is through social networks that we have witnessed changes happening. We cannot have a leadership that signs an unlimited contract and does not show how much the investor has invested, one that places the needs of those in power at the forefront and denies its citizens of their rights. Tanzanians need to take action where the government is wrong to remove the notion that the government is always right and that there is nothing we as citizens can do when the government is wrong. Tanzanians have woken up to demand a constitution but it is still not enough and more needs to be done. We need different groups of activists who will unite to fight for the nation. Full liberation will be achieved through a new constitution that will create free and fair systems. The government is in power with the power given to them by the people, so as citizens it is up to us to take the right decisions to question and demand responsibility when the government is wrong.
