Katiba zote tangu 1920 hazijawahi kutokana na wananchi. Wananchi hawakushirikishwa katika kuzitunga katiba hizo, wakati wa ukoloni na baada ya wakoloni kuondoka. Hata Katiba iliyopo haitokana na maoni ya wananchi, ni katiba ya watawala yenye manufaa kwa kundi dogo kukandamazi maslahi ya wengi. Kutokana na kutokuwa na katiba ya wananchi, utaratibu wa kisheria ulioweka wa uchaguzi umewanyima wananchi mamlaka ya kutosha kusimamia chaguzi lakini pia kupata viongozi wanaowataka kutokana na chaguzi, chaguzi zinachafuliwa kila baada ya miaka mitano. Bunge la sasa limeshindwa kusimamia Serikali juu ya suala la Loliondo na #CAGReport , wanaofanya ubadhilifu wanakingiwa kifua hakuna uwajibishaji. Serikali inakopa na kusaini mikataba kwa siri bila hata kupitisha Bungeni. Wananchi hawana mamlaka yoyote ya maana katika maswala ya utawala.

Hii ni kwa sababu wananchi hawashirikishwi ipasavyo. Wananchi hawana mamlaka kwa wabunge zao, hawana nguvu ya kuingiza hoja bungeni kutona na mfumo wabunge kutekwa na chama kimoja. Kwa kipindi chote tangu 1920 haki za binadamu zimewekwa rehani kwa sababu katiba haijawahi kuwa ya wananchi. Waandishi wa habari wanatishiwa, wanatekwa na kufungwa jela lwa kutoa taarifa zinazofichua maovu ya Serikali. Katika sheria sasa hakuna kinga ya kutosha kwa vyombo vya habari na ili kujenga uchumi lazima kuwe na vyombo huru vya habari, mfumo wa sasa wa kusimamia vyombo vya habari umeweka nguvu kubwa sana kwa waziri wa habari. Tuna miaka 60 ya uhuru na kujitawala wenyewe na maendeleo yetu hayalingani na umri huo, hii ni kutokana na uongozi mbovu na katiba mbovu. Tumepewa na Mungu nchi iliyobarikiwa na rasilimali nyingi lakini tuliowapa dhamana wanajinufaisha wenyewe kuliko wananchi, ni wakati wa kubadili yote haya kwa #KatibaMpya . Bila #KatibaMpya tutazidi kupoteza rasilimali zetu kwa kuwa zitazidi kutumika kwa mikataba mibovu inayoruhusiwa na katiba mbovu ya sasa.

All constitutions since 1920 have never been that of the people. Tanzanians were not involved in drafting all the past constitutions, during the colonial period and even after gaining independence. The existing Constitution is not based on the opinion of the people, it is a constitution of the minority rulers that is useful for a small group to suppress the interests of the majority. Due to the absence of a people's constitution, the legal procedure for elections has deprived the people of sufficient authority to manage the elections but also to get the leaders of their choice through elections, elections are interfered every five years. The current Parliament has failed to contain the Government on the Loliondo matter as well as the #CAGReport, those responsible are shielded and are not held accountable. The government borrows and signs contracts secretly without involving the Parliament. Citizens do not have any meaningful authority in matters concerning their government. This is because citizens are not properly involved. Citizens do not have authority over their parliamentarians, they do not have the power to introduce arguments in parliament because the parliamentary system is dominated by one party. For the entire period since 1920, human rights have been sidelined because the constitution has never belonged to the people. Journalists are threatened, arrested and imprisoned for providing information that exposes the government's wrongdoings.

There is not enough protection for journalists and the media and in order to build the economy there must be an independent media. We have 60 years of independence and self-governance and our development does not match the time, this is due to the presence of a bad leadership and a bad constitution. We have been given by God a country endowed with many resources, but those who we trusted with the resources only use the resources to benefit themselves more than the people. It is time to change all this with a new constitution. Without a new constitution we will continue to lose our resources as a result of exploitative contracts allowed by the current constitution.
