Ubinafishaji wa mali za umma/kuingia mikataba na wawekezaji kutoka nje bila kuzingatia maslahi ya taifa ni moja ya tatizo hapa nchini kwa muda mrefu. Masuala ya uwekezaji yamekuwa jaja ya kuuza maliasili zetu. Serikali imeshindwa kusimamia vitu vya msingi kama bandari imekimbilia kwa wawekezaji, lakini mikataba ya wawekezaji ni mauzo ya maliasili zetu. Usimamizi wa rasilimali zetu inategemeana sana na misingi bora ambayo itajenga uwazi katika usimamizi wake na matumizi endelevu na yenye tija ya rasilimali zetu yanatakiwa kutumika kwa namna wananchi wanakubaliana nayo na si kuuza wanyama na madini na rasilimali nyinginezo kinyume na matakwa ya wananchi. Viongozi wanatakiwa kujua wanatumikia wananchi, hivyo wanatakiwa kuwasikliza na kuzingatia maoni yao. 

Mfano mzuri ni katika sakata hili la bandari ambapo wananchi wengi wameupinga mkataba huu kwani uwekezaji ulioainishwa ni sawa na kuuza banndari yetu kwa waarabu wa Dubai. Itakuwa haina maana kama bandari itakuwa ipo Tanzania na haiwanufaishi Watanzania. Ukosefu wa katiba bora imetupelekea kama Taifa kuingia mikataba na sehemu ambayo haina sifa ya kuingia mikataba ya kimataifa. Wananchi inabidi watambue kuwa wao ndio walinzi wa kwanza wa maliasili za nchi na wasiposimamia rasilimali za nchi kwa katiba bora vizazi vyao vitashidwa kufaidi kwa kupitia rasilimali hizi tulizoazo leo. Kupitia katiba bora rasilimali zinatakiwa ziwanufaishe wananchi, na sio kunufaika tuu bali isiwaumize na kuharibiwa mazingira. Hivyo, waannchi waahitaaji kuogeza nguvu katika madai ya #KatibaMpya itakayowawezesha kuwajibisha viongozi wanaofuja rasilimali zanchi kwa manufaa yao binafsi.

The confiscation of public assets/entering into contracts with foreign investors without considering the national interest has been one of the problems facing this country for a long time. Investment on the country’s resources has become a selling point for our natural resources. The government has failed to manage basic things such as the port such that it has resorted to investors, but investor contracts are the sale of our natural resources. The management of our resources is very dependent on the presence of governance principles that create transparency in its management.  The sustainable and productive use of resources should be used in a way that is in sync with the people’s wishes and not for the government acting behind the citizens' backs and trading the country’s resources against the wishes of the people. 

Government leaders need to know that they are serve the people, so they need to listen to them and consider their opinions. A good example is in the ongoing port saga, where many citizens have opposed the contract to lease Tanzania ports to DPW. This is because it will be meaningless for Tanzania ports to benefit investors rather than Tanzanians themselves. Citizens have to realize that they are the first guardians of the country's natural resources and if they do not manage the country's resources with a better constitution, their generations will not be able to benefit from these resources that exist today. Through a better constitution, resources will benefit the citizens and not just those in power. Thus, citizens need to unite and double their efforts towards the demand for a new constitution that will enable them to hold leaders who squander the country's resources for their personal benefit accountable.
