Katiba yetu ya sasa ni chanzo cha mataizo mengi yanayowakumba wananchi wa Tanzania kwa kuwa haikidhi mahitaji na mabadiliko yaliyotokea nchini tangu kuundwa kwake. Katiba ya sasa imefanya watu wengi waumie kwa kukosa haki zao za msingi. Tumeshudia watu kama Erick Kabendera, Tito Magoti na Freeman Mbowe wakikamatwa na kubambikiziwa kesi za utakatishaji fedha, uhujumu uchumi na kusaidia njama za uhalifu kwa kwa kutimiza wajibu wao kisheria. #KatibaMpya itahakikisha kuwa na haki zote zilizolindwa vizuri kisheria, ili asiwepo mtu mwenye madaraka ya kupitiliza kuvunja haki hizo. Katiba yetu imempa Rais mamlaka makubwa ya utawala kiasi cha kuingilia mihimili mingine ya bunge na mahakama.  Rais anaingilia kila Taasisi inabidi viongozi wote na wafanyakazi kufanya anavyotaka Rais hii inaondoa weledi katika maamuzi.

Viongozi wanapewa madaraka bila kujali taaluma zao bali uanachama wao. Jambo linalo sababisha hasara kwa Taifa kwa kushindwa kutumia rasilimali watu vizuri kulingana na uwezo. Hivyo, #KatibaMpya itapunguza mamlaka ya Rais na kutupatia viongozi bora kupitia tume huru ya uchaguzi itakayosimamia uchaguzi kuwa wa usawa na haki. Ukosefu wa mifumo ya uwajibishaji wa viongozi katika katiba ya sasa umepelekea viongozi wa serikali kutumia rasilimali za nchi vibaya na kuweka wananchi katika matatizao kwani wanafanya kazi ili kutimiza maslahi yao binafsi. #KatibaMpya itarudisha nguvu kwa wananchi na wananchi watahusika kuwajibisha viongozi wasio waadilifu na wanaofuja mali za umma. #KatibaMpya ni muhimu kwani hubeba muelekeo mzima wa jinsi nchi itaendeshwa pamoja na wananchi wake.

The current Tanzanian constitution is the source of many problems faced by the citizens because it does not meet the needs and changes that have occurred in the country since its formation. The current constitution has brought suffering upon several people due to injustice committed to them. We have witnessed people like Erick Kabendera, Tito Magoti and Freeman Mbowe being arrested and charged with false counts on money laundering, economic sabotage and assisting criminal conspiracies by simply exercising their constitutional rights and legal obligations. A new constitution will ensure that all human rights are well protected by law, so that there is no one that will be above the law to break those rights. Our Constitution has given the President greater administrative powers that allows her to interfere with the functioning of the parliament and the judiciary.

This has compromised the actions of these organs forcing them to work towards appeasing the president. Leaders are appointed into government positions regardless of their profession but their political party membership, something that has resulted in loss to the Nation by failing to utilize its capable human resources according to their ability. Thus, a new constitution will reduce the power of the President and provide us with better leaders through an independent electoral commission that will manage the elections to be free and fair. The lack of accountability systems for leaders in the current constitution has led government leaders to misuse the country's resources and put citizens in trouble as leaders only work to fulfill their personal interests. A new constitution will return power to the people and the people will be responsible for holding leaders who are dishonest and those that misuse public resources into account. A new constitution is therefore undeniably important because it guides the entire direction of how the country will be run together with its citizens.
