Uongozi wa nchi yoyote ya kidemokrasia unaamuliwa na wananchi na sio chama tawala lakini kwa sasa chama kimeshika hatamu . Suhala la #KatibaMpya ni takwa la muda mrefu la wananchi wa Tanzania kuitaka serikali iwape katiba mpya. Tangu serikali ikubali kufufua mchakato wa #KatibaMpya hakuna hatua yeyote rasmi iliyochukuliwa. Katiba ya sasa imempa mamlaka makubwa Rais kiasi kwamba anaweza kuingilia chaguzi na mifumo yake.

Chama Tawala Chama Cha Mapinduzi kinazembea kufufua mchakato wa kupata #KatibaMpya kwani #KatibaMpya italeta mabadiliko makubwa katika taifa hivyo kuwa ni tishio la kuwatoa madarakani.  Kwa hili, Chama Cha Mapinduzi kimeshikilia mchakato wa #KatibaMpya kwa hofu ya kupoteza uchaguzi. 

Ili kufanikisha mchakato huu, watanzania kwa umoja bila kujali itikadi za chama wala siasa, waungane ili kuongeza nguvu katika madai haya. Wanamuziki, mashirika yasiyo ya kiserikali, waandishi wa habari pamoja na viongozi wa dini wachukue nafasi zao na watumie majukwaa yao katika kuelimisha jamii juu ya umuhimu wa kupata #KatibaMpya. Wananchi wote kwa ujumla wawe sehemu ya kuelimisha jamii inayowazunguka kwa jinsi ambavyo #KatibaMpya itasaidia kutatua changamoto wanazopitia sasa na jinsi itakavyoboresha maisha yetu wote kama Taifa.

The leadership of any democratic country is decided by the people and not the ruling party. The need for a new constitution is a long-term demand of the Tanzanian people asking the government to issue a new constitution. Since the government agreed to revive the constitution making process no official action has been taken by the government. The current constitution has given the President so much power such that she can interfere with the electoral system and results. The ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi is neglecting to revive the process of getting a new constitution because it will bring great changes to the nation hence a threat to their removal from power. For this, Chama Cha Mapinduzi is using delaying tactics to keep the constitution making process on hold for its fear of losing the election.

In order to achieve a new constitution, Tanzanians, regardless of their political party or political ideology, should unite to increase the strength of these claims. Musicians, Non-Governmental Organizations, journalists and religious leaders should take their place and use their platforms to educate the community on the importance of obtaining a new constitution. All citizens in general should be part of educating the community around them on how a new constitution will help solve the challenges they are currently facing and how it will improve everyone’s life as a nation.
