Mikutano ya hadhara nchini ilipigwa marufuku kipindi cha Rais mstaafu hayati John Pombe Magufuli. Katazo hilo limedumu kwa takribani miaka sita kabla ya kutengeliwa na Rais Samia Suluhu Hassan mapema mwaka huu. Hayati Rais Magufuli alizuia mikutano ya hadhara kwa kauli yake tuu  ambayo ilikiuka katiba ya nchi ambayo inavipa vyama vya siasa nchini uhuru wa kufanya mikutano ya hadhara. Mikutano ya hadhara ilizuiwa katika juhudi za kuzuia vyama vya upinzani visiendeshe shughuli zao za siasa. Wananchi wamekubali kuwa mikutano ya hadhara itasaidia katika madai ya #KatibaMpya kwani inatoa uwanja mpana wa kujulisha jamii juu ya mambo yanayoendelea ili kudai mabadiliko.

Utafiti uliofanywa na Afrobarometer mwaka 2010 ulibaini kwamba asilimia 72 ya watanzania wanahudhuria mikutano ya hadhara. Hivyo hata hayati Rais Magufuli alitambua kuwa mikutano hii ina nguvu kubwa sana ya kuifikia jamii na jamii ikapelekewa ujumbe unaotakiwa. Mikutano ya hadhara ni chachu ya katiba mpya.kwani elimu ya uraia pamoja na haki zao, juu ya kuelewa katiba na umuhimu wake. Pamoja na hilo, mikutano ya hadhara peke yake haitoshi kusaidia madai ya katiba mpya. Wananchi wamehimizana kuacha kudai mabadiliko katika vikundi bali kuungana na pamoja katika kudai katiba mpya itakayoleta mabadiliko yote tunayohitaji. Lakini katiba itakayoweka mifumo itakayombana kila mwananchi akiwemo Rais kuwa chini ya sheria ili nchi iweze kuwa na utawala bora.

Political rallies by political parties were banned in the country during the reign of the late President John Pombe Magufuli. The ban lasted for about six years before it was lifted by President Samia Suluhu Hassan earlier this year, 2023. The late President Magufuli stopped  political rallies out of his decree which violated the country's constitution which gives political parties the right to hold political rallies and public meetings. Political rallies were banned in an effort to prevent opposition parties from conducting their political activities. Citizens have acknowledged that political rallies are of immense help in the demands for a NewConstitution as it provides a solid platform to inform the community on the things that are taking place in the society and lead them towards demanding for change. A study conducted by Afrobarometer in 2010 revealed that 72 percent of Tanzanians attend political rallies.
This is no shock that the late President Magufuli realized the impact that political rallies had in bringing back power to the people hence placed a ban on them. Political rallies are useful in that it brings citizens together in an arena where the community can be educated, informed and empowered to seek and demand for the  desired change. It is with no question that political rallies are a great catalyst in the demands for the new constitution, as the platform can be used to educate citizens on their rights, understanding the constitution and its importance. However, political rallies alone are not enough to support the demand for a new constitution. Citizens have encouraged each other to stop demanding changes in groups but to join hands in demanding a new constitution that will bring all the changes we need but one that will also establish the systems that will conform every citizen including the President to be under the law hence the existence of a good governance.
