Polisi wamekuwa wakifanya matukio ambayo yamenyanyasa wananchi na CCM kama chama tawala hakijawahi kusema kitu wala kupinga matendo hayo. Wananchi walilinganisha jeshi la polisi kama mkono wa pili wa Chama Cha Mapinduzi kwani polisi wameonyesha wazi kufuata maagizo ya viongozi na si sheria. Polisi wametumika na chama tawala kudhibiti vyama pinzani kufanya mikutano yao ya hadhara na ya ndani. Uchaguzi Mkuu wa mwaka 2020 tulijionea wazi jinsi polisi walivyoonea wananchi juu ya kutimiza haki zao za msingi kikatiba. Viongozi wa upinzani walizuiwa kurudisha fomu, kampeni za wagombea wa vyama vya upinzani zilizuiliwa kuendesha kampeni zao kwani polisi walisababisha vurugu na fujo.

Ni dhahiri kuwa tunahitaji chombo huru kitakacho simamia utendaji kazi wa polisi lakini ili chombo hiki kipatikane ni kupitia upatikanaji wa  #KatibaMpya kwani Katiba mpya ndiyo itakayo leta uwajibishaji kwa jeshi la polisi na viongozi wanaotumia vibaya mamlaka ili kuhakikisha kuwa watu wanapata haki zao vinginevyo CCM itaendelea kutumia polisi ili kuhakikisha kuwa inabaki madarakani. Kila mtanzania atambue nafasi yake katika kutetea haki na tujenge utamaduni wa kuteteana pale tunapoona maovu yanatendeka dhidi ya wananchi wengine. Ni wazi kabisa kuwa polisi wanatumika na chama kikuu hivyo hawawezi kukemea polisi pale ambapo wanavuka mipaka yao ya kiutendaji kwani wanafanya kazi kwa faida ya chama tawala cha CCM. Serikali iliyo madarakani haipo tayari kupigania maslahi ya wananchi. Watanzania wamehimizana kusimamia na kauli moja ya #KatibaMpya .

The police have been involved in undertaking incidents that have harassed and oppressed citizens and CCM as the ruling party has never rebuked these actions. Citizens compared the police force as the second arm of the ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi as the police have clearly shown to follow orders from political leaders and not the law. The police have been used by the ruling party to control opposition parties from holding their public and internal meetings. During the 2020 General Election, we clearly saw how the police hindered the citizens from fulfilling their basic constitutional rights. Opposition leaders were prevented from returning forms, opposition parties' were prevented from conducting their campaigns as the police were used to initiate violence and chaos.

It is obvious that there is a crucial need for an independent body that will monitor the work of the police but for this body to come to be is only through the acquisition of the new Constitution that will demand accountability of the police force and leaders who abuse power to ensure that people rights are respected and upheld otherwise CCM will continue to use the police to ensure that it remains in power. Every Tanzanian citizen should recognize his/her role in defending justice and together build a culture of defending each other whenever we see injustice being done against other citizens. It is quite clear that the police are being used by the ruling party to act in their favor, hence CCM cannot criticize nor rebuke the police when they cross their operational limits. The government in power is not ready to fight for the interests of the people hence Tanzanians should unite and remain strong in the demand for a New Constitution.
