Tozo Na Ushauri Wanaopewa, Serikali, Kuna Usikivu Au Ubabe Tu?

ENGLISH VERSION
The government has been imposing tax charges every now and then without regards of neither the current economic situation nor the people's thoughts on those charges. The tax charges have been many and people have raised their concerns and complaints to the government because the economic situation is not good and it keeps imposing more tax charges, making them a burden to the people, especially those with low income. Charges on mobile transactions have reduced mobile money transactions in all mobile networks, leading to losses for mobile networks companies in the country. Vodacom stated to have suffered a loss of more than 50 million US dollars. The economic consequences as an implication is that, we hear that the telephone company (Vodacom) has started merging departments and at the end of the day this will lead to redundancy of its workers. Charges on banking transactions have also reduced bank deposits from people and this may lead to a collapse in bank income. As a similar fate to that of mobile network companies, banks may also resort to redundancy as a means to cut down operations cost but also a fall in its lending capacity will act as a constraint to the growth of the informal sector which highly depends on bank loans to operate and grow. Together with people complaining about the tax charges being burdensome, the government has been tyranny in its response as the Minister of Finance was heard telling the people that if they did not want to pay the tax charges imposed, they should move to the neighboring country of Burundi.
