ENGLISH VERSION

Citizens have reached an extent that they feel safe in the hands of the police outside the country than they are in their motherland. There have been many incidents of the police killing citizens arbitrarily. Along with the police force arguing citizens to obey the law, they have been the first to break the law. We have recently seen Panya road (thieves) being killed at the hands of the police and we know that despite the crimes they commit, they still have the right to be taken to court. In another recent incident, the police in an operation to arrest robbers arrived at one accused's house and asked him to have sexual  intercourse with his own child while they were watching and when he refused, he was put to death. Citizens have questioned whether superstition is behind the police killings as no leader has been seen to stand up and oppose this matter. Civil and human rights organizations in the country have been urged to do their work in condemning police killings. Religious leaders who have also remained silent in condemning this matter were reminded to play their part. Citizens encouraged each other in case they witness police brutality to take initiative at citizen journalism to record and broadcast such acts so that the community and other nations can know what is happening in the country. In addition to this, the citizens have seen the need to reform the systems to ensure that there is accountability at every level and this will be successful with a new Constitution. Citizens need police who will be there for the citizens and not the rulers.
